Milton Abbas

Posted by
Jules (Drayton, United Kingdom) on 21 April 2019 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

When I was a young boy my Father was the Rector for this village and during a recent holiday in Dorset I took the opportunity to visit. Although this village is still just as picturesque and quintessentially Thomas Hardy's "Dorset", I couldn't help but feel disappointed when seeing Milton Abbas for the first time since I was @12 years old. The presence of the all the cars parked outside the thatched cottages sadly spoil the very essence of this village - This was the first time I have really got a sense of how much our lives have changed and how positive progress can also have detrimental consequences. The recent climate change protests in London are also a stark and sobering reminder of some of these consequences.
