Oxford 10/11 - St Mary's Stained Glass 1

Posted by
Jules (Drayton, United Kingdom) on 27 February 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

The east window of the south aisle was designed by AW Pugin (made by Hardman & Co), in memory of Thomas Bartley who died 1843. Pugin shows the boy kneeling in his student's gown. His parents are shown kneeling opposite holding a model of the window, the other lights depict scenes in the life of St Thomas.

This church delivers an impressive and stunning quality of stained glasses. Very unique and remarquable as far as the colors are concerned. Capture and process are both on top.

Amazing window, very nice processing too, the colours are alive.
His death doesn't look very comfortable.

gorgeous colours ... how did you do this? whenever i take a picture of a church window, it's either too bright or too dark!!!

27 Feb 2012 7:40pm

@franz: Thanks - this was a 3 shot hdr image processed in photomatix - I then tweaked it more in photoshop. I have many photos of stained glass windows that like yours are either too over or underexposed but since using hdr have had some very nice results. I particularly like tomorrow's post.
