Princes Street Gardens & The Old Town

Posted by
Jules (Drayton, United Kingdom) on 15 November 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Princes Street Gardens is a public park in the centre of Edinburgh, in the shadow of the Castle. The Gardens were created in the 1820s following the long draining of the Nor Loch and the creation of the New Town. The Nor Loch was a large loch in the centre of the city. It was heavily polluted from centuries of sewage draining downhill from the Old Town. The Old Town is the entire city centre area that is found to the South of Princes Street and includes the main skyline of the city which can be seen wonderfully from the Princes Street Gardens.
